Jimny receives 30K orders and equal bookings for manual and automatic trims.

The 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny has earned excellent reviews in India ever since the SUV made its debut there at the Auto Expo 2023. The off-roader has received astronomical bookings, which indicates the intense anticipation around it. According to Autocar India, Maruti Suzuki has 30,000 units on order.

The Jimny SUV will only come with a petrol-manual and a petrol-automatic powertrain choice at launch. According to the Autocar research, reservations for cars with manual and automatic powertrains are split almost equally.

According to reports, the SUV’s serial manufacturing started earlier this month, and the automaker has already produced over 1,000 vehicles. The distribution of these to the dealers is now being handled by Maruti Suzuki. By the middle of June, the initial round of delivery may be completed.

For customers searching for a lifestyle SUV, Maruti Suzuki has released the Jimny SUV. Given that the Jimny is the automaker’s fourth new SUV introduction in India within a year, it appears that the company is significantly leaning towards launching an SUV in every class.

The Jimny will have a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that produces 103 horsepower and 134 Nm of torque. Similar powertrains may be seen in vehicles like the XL6, Ertiga, and Brezza. It will be able to go off-road significantly thanks to Suzuki’s AllGrip all-wheel drive technology.

The base Zeta MT model of Maruti Suzuki’s Jimny will cost Rs 9.99 lakh, and the fully equipped Alpha AT variant will cost Rs 13.99 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, India). Therefore, the Jimny Alpha variant’s on-road cost would be close to Rs 16 lakh. In India, the Jimny will face off against vehicles like the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.

Maruti Suzuki had earlier this year introduced its Fronx crossover in India. The Fronx has been positioned between the SUV Grand Vitara and the Baleno. Built on the Heartect platform, Fronx will have cutting-edge technologies including a 360-degree camera heads-up display, a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment touchscreen, an Arkamys-tuned sound system, and wireless phone charging. A 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 99 BHP and 147 Nm and a 1.2-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 89 BHP and 113 Nm will both be offered as powertrain choices for this vehicle.
